Mr. Matson is a trial and appellate lawyer with over fifteen years of experience handling complex litigation disputes, federal criminal defense, white-collar defense, and internal investigations. In addition, Mr. Matson acts as outside counsel for businesses and not-for-profits in Vermont and Massachusetts, handling their corporate structuring, general business affairs, and regulatory compliance.
Mr. Matson has acted as lead trial and appellate counsel in complex criminal and commercial matters in the state and federal Courts of Vermont, Massachusetts, and New York. Prior to joining the firm, Attorney Matson represented international corporate entities in all aspects of litigation and corporate structuring with the law firm of Ford Marrin in lower Manhattan, before relocating to Boston in order to focus on criminal trials and appeals. Mr. Matson has handled a wide variety of cases from complex commercial fraud, securities litigation, racketeering/conspiracy, money laundering, and international trafficking. Chandler has acted as lead counsel in hundreds of trial matters in state and federal courts, and has handled appellate matters before the high courts of New York, Massachusetts, Vermont, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
Mr. Matson was named to Thomson Reuter’s Super Lawyer list in 2011, 2013, 2014 and 2015 (Thomson Reuters compiles this list of no more than 5% of lawyers as chosen by peers, judges, and independent research). Mr. Matson attended Tulane University Law School and Syracuse University College of Law, graduating 9th in his class, magna cum laude, in 2001. Prior to law school, Mr. Matson attended Alfred University, graduating cum laude with degrees in Economics and Political Science.
In his free time, Mr. Matson enjoys skiing, fishing, biking, and anything else with his two young children and wife. In addition to his professional and family life, Chandler is a proud member of Team Sheila, and Judy’s and Janet’s Kids. Team Sheila was formed in 2007 to raise money for the treatment and cure of ALS. Judy’s and Janet’s Kids were formed in 2008 to raise money for the treatment and cure of women’s cancers. Each team bears the name of a mom, and collectively these teams have raised tens of thousands of dollars that will hopefully one day save a mom’s life.
Attorney Matson also serves as outside and general counsel to the not-for-profit organizations of the North American Hockey Academy, the Vermont Automobile Enthusiasts, and the Scout Student Film Festival.
