Russell D. Barr, Esq. is the founder and managing partner of Barr Law Group. He graduated cum laude from the State University of New York at Albany with a B.S. in Economics in 1981, where he was also a member of the Omicron Delta Epsilon – International Economics Honor Society. The next year, he went on to earn his MBA in Accounting there in the University’s accelerated 5 year joint B.S. and Master’s Program.A native of Long Island, New York, Russell attended Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in New York City, earning his Juris Doctor in 1985. He began his law career at Coopers & Lybrand International Tax Group, honing his skills in international tax law before moving up to the 40-lawyer Park Avenue law firm of Gilbert, Segall & Young.In the late 1980’s, Russell joined the international law firm of Proskauer Rose, where he worked with some of the most talented and brightest lawyers in the world representing large and diverse international and national organizations.In 1993 Russell and his wife Toni moved to Stowe, Vermont where he opened the Law Offices of Russell D. Barr. With a constantly growing staff, the firm was renamed Barr & Associates, P.C in 1997. Russell has brought together a diverse staff of attorneys many with large international law firm experience from New York and Boston and dedicated support personnel to serve the New York and Vermont communities. Russell represents clients in all aspects of commercial and tort litigation including trials and appeals and has litigated in areas of commercial, real estate, utilities, class actions, personal injury, medical malpractice, insurance coverage and toxic torts. Russell and his team have successfully tried to verdict numerous jury and bench trials including defamation, medical malpractice, wrongful death, legal and professional malpractice, toxic tort, real estate, personal injury and construction matters. His firm has held many of the highest verdicts in their local courthouse for years. If there is one statement that captures Russ’ approach to the practice of law it is: “We just work harder and smarter than the bad guys.”For over two decades Russell has also had the honor to represent multiple professionals including doctors, lawyers, real estate professionals and various business enterprises in a sundry of delicate regulatory matters with the various Vermont State agencies regulating businesses and professionals.And, Russell oversees the real estate and commercial practice and has been involved with many high profile deals in New York and Vermont including a $110,000,000.00 casino and hotel financing for the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe as well as Vermont resort financings and deals for amounts up to $25,000,000.00 including NY and HUD registrations for real estate sales in New York and Vermont.

Russell is a member of The Association of the Bar of the City of New York; Lamoille County, Vermont, New York State, and American Bar Associations, and the Vermont Trial Lawyers Association. Russell and his wife Toni have three children. As a family, they enjoy skiing and sailing with their family for over 2,000 miles on their sailboat to the French West Indies. Russell has been an avid coach for his kids including football and little league and now enjoys flying with his son.
